Location DescriptionOur plant, located in Lansing, IL, pasteurizes raw eggs to remove harmful bacteria for a safer product for the food service industry.
Job SummaryThis position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. It ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability, and ensures regulatory compliance. The position is responsible for assisting the department lead in managing the Raw Department.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in training of all processing and production personnel in the assigned department.
- Help create a safe work environment for all personnel and ensure that all production complies with the food safety standards established by Michael Foods, Inc.
- Work with department lead and supervisors to maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
- Coordinate with the processors the timing of system start‑ups, lines running, product type and quantity, and line sterilization to meet the production requirements set by the company.
- Coordinate the need and arrival of raw materials for each line, ensuring that all supply needs are always met.
- Maintain an effective working relationship between all members of the department and other areas.
- Verify that all operator downtime, temperature charts, and other documentation are accurate and complete before turning them into the shift supervisor to maintain accurate records for the company and USDA.
- Communicate with co‑workers at shift change to ensure accurate information is transferred between shifts regarding production, scheduling, etc.
- Continuously monitor the lines for quality product and notify all appropriate personnel if discrepancies are found.
- Monitor rework inventories and coordinate rework activity to ensure product is reworked before it becomes inedible.
- Follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures.
- Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) procedures, such as washing hands, throughout the day.
- Follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.
- Follow all SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures). Keep all records updated.
- Follow all USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines.
- Report and fill out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety to maintenance.
- Encourage suggestions from employees that will improve productivity, quality, and/or control cost of production.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Be responsible for food safety and food quality of MFI products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
ExperienceOne to three months related lead experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
