Position SummaryThis is a ten‑month position working collaboratively with the teacher to maintain a program that includes an organized series of experiences designed to meet the needs of all participating children and to assist and utilize parents in alternative ways to foster the learning and development of their children. Responsibilities include transporting and/or monitoring the children to and from school and to and from field trips as needed, maintaining the adult‑to‑child ratio in the classroom, and working with the teacher in day‑to‑day operations, assisting teaching a classroom of 17‑20 three‑to‑five‑year‑old children.
The position is performed under the supervision of the Center Manager/Teacher, reviewed through regular supervision, reports, and program achievements.

- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with co‑workers, community partners and customers.
- Continue to develop your knowledge and skills of the curriculum utilized in the program.
- Continue to develop professionally with knowledge and expertise with what are developmentally appropriate practices and activities with young children.
- Continue to grow your knowledge of what resources in our community are available to help our children and families that we work with.
- High School Graduate or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential for 3–5‑year‑old children preferred; must be willing to obtain a CDA credential within 2 years and/or work toward an Associate’s degree.
- Driver Improvement/AAA certification and First Aid and CPR certification required, maintain current; attend training in child abuse and neglect, blood borne pathogens upon hire.
- Successfully complete physical exam, TB skin test, and drug screen before beginning employment.
- Submit to and pass criminal background/history check in compliance with State of Kansas Child Care Licensing.
- Possess current valid state driver’s license and personal automobile insurance upon hire.
- CDL (Commercial Driver License) upon hire.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Sit (adult and child size furniture) and stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Require close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds or more.
- Assist children with toileting and changing diapers.
- Noise level usually quiet to moderate.
