Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Key Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, corporate, and nursing department policies and procedures.
  • Report any allegations of resident abuse, neglect, exploitation, misappropriation of resident property, and social media violations immediately to the Administrator or supervisor.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with co‑workers and other departments.
  • Report to work on time, attend mandatory trainings and meetings, and report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Grievance Officer or per policy.
  • Assist in admission and discharge of residents; assist residents in daily oral care, bathing (bed bath, tub, or shower), grooming, and changing clothing and linen when soiled or wet.
  • Make beds and change linens as scheduled.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions and collect specimens (urine, sputum, stool, etc.).
  • Assist residents in preparing for activity and social programs, and transport residents to/from meals, appointments, activity and social programs both inside and outside the facility, including lifting, turning, moving, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Assist residents in ambulation and mobility; use gait belts properly.
  • Perform and document resident vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen, temperature, pulse, respirations) and weight/height measurements. Note any changes in condition or behavior to the Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with meals, feeding, and provision of fluids; distribute ice and drinking water as required.
  • Assist in the care of dying residents and provide post‑mortem care.
  • Check assigned residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Organize and straighten resident rooms daily; bag soiled linens and trash in appropriate bins.
  • Complete required documentation of care and services as they are provided; give shift report to the incoming shift as per facility policy.
  • May not leave the assigned shift until a supervisor releases you.
Key Job/Physical Requirements
  • Regular worksite attendance.
  • Must have a valid CNA certification in good standing with the State.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Employee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
