Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Lansing, Michigan, on a contract basis. In this role, you will handle various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic manufacturing environment while utilizing your expertise in accounting systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable tasks, including processing invoices and reconciling payments.
- Perform general ledger accounting duties to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries to maintain proper record-keeping.
- Assist in month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Handle corporate tax-related tasks, including sales tax calculations and corporate tax returns.
- Maintain and track fixed assets to ensure proper documentation and compliance.
- Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 to streamline accounting processes.
- Support the implementation of AI tools to automate specific accounting functions.
- Monitor accruals and ensure they are accurately recorded.
- Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency and adherence to financial standards. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
- Familiarity with corporate tax processes, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting month-end close procedures.
- Expertise in using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of fixed asset management and accruals.
- Ability to analyze financial data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing industry setting is preferred.
