Project Accountant - Central Michigan
Christman Constructors, Inc. (CCI) seeks an experienced Project Accountant to support project teams on construction projects across the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities- Provide project profitability updates and sub‑contractor compliance reporting.
- Assist Project Managers with cost projections, reconciliations, and Project Financial Status Reports (PFSR).
- Collect and maintain signed contracts, insurance policies, waivers, bonds, and notices of furnishings.
- Maintain detailed project financial records in accordance with audit expectations.
- Act as primary point‑of‑contact for trade contractors, including orientation and payment inquiries.
- Process all construction project financial transactions, including project set‑up, invoicing, and changes to contracts.
- Handle owner and trade contractor invoices, perform reconciliations, batch payments, and issue checks.
- Manage change orders and other contract variations, ensuring compliance with risk management and accounting standards.
- Manage project close‑out activities such as final billing adjustments and subcontractor finalization.
- Contribute to corporate financial accounting and system improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related coursework, or equivalent work experience.
- Three (3+) years of relevant experience in construction accounting or a similar field.
- Strong understanding of project accounting, cost reporting, and financial reconciliation.
- Detailed knowledge of project contracts and change‑order documents.
- Familiarity with construction industry terminology and practices.
