Lead Cost Accountant
Neogen is looking to hire a Lead Cost Accountant who will be responsible for performing all necessary analysis and reconciliations to maintain an accurate inventory system as well as performing cost accounting and analysis.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCost Accounting:
- Responsible for overseeing at least one direct report.
- Manage and support cost accounting functions for multiple sites.
- Conduct analysis of costs, identify opportunities for cost savings, and lead cost reduction projects.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies that occur within inventory sub-ledger within ERP.
- Assist with review of quarterly inventory reserve calculation.
- Perform analysis of actual versus standard variances.
- Conduct annual standard cost update.
- Perform month end closing cost of sales analysis.
- Partner on both internal and external audit requests; administer cost accounting-related SOX controls.
- Support budget preparations and analysis in regards to product costs.
- Other responsibilities to be defined by Divisional Controller.
Inventory Control:
- Participate in divisional efforts in inventory reduction.
- Track scrap and obsolete inventories.
- Work closely with Operations on physical inventory counts.
- Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, cycle counts, and other inventory functions as requested.
- Other responsibilities to be defined by the Divisional Controller.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 8 years' experience in cost accounting
- SAP experience preferred
