Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support daily financial operations for a contract assignment in Lansing, Michigan. This role will handle a mix of payable and receivable tasks, maintain accurate records, and assist with routine accounting activities that keep the department running smoothly. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with invoices, reconciliations, and high-volume data entry while communicating professionally with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities:

- Process incoming and outgoing invoices accurately and in a timely manner to support day-to-day accounting activities.

- Perform account reconciliations and review financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

- Communicate with customers and vendors to address billing questions, payment updates, and account issues.

- Prepare and maintain daily accounting worksheets and supporting documentation for internal tracking.

- Manage accounts payable transactions, including verifying details and recording entries correctly.

- Support accounts receivable functions by posting payments, monitoring balances, and following up on outstanding items.

- Assist with month-end close activities by organizing records and providing accounting support as needed. Requirements - Experience handling accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks in a detail-focused setting.

- Proficiency with Quick Books and the ability to navigate accounting systems efficiently.

- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Background in invoice processing and maintaining organized financial documentation.

- Ability to reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies independently.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with customers and vendors.

- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a contract-based role.
