** Job Purpose
** The Director, Investment Accounting directs accounting operations, portfolio reporting, and regulatory compliance strategies. Oversees the accounting, financial reporting, and operational administration of the Company's multi-billion dollar investment portfolio, serving as a subject matter expert on both US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, while directing staff to meet department objectives.##
** Essential Responsibilities
*** Directs the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for our investment asset classes, while maintaining accounting policies and practices.
* Develops and maintains relationships with both external and internal business partners.
* Directs the compilation of financial statement disclosures for US GAAP and Statutory reporting.
* Reviews investment transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
* Collaborates with other departments to analyze and recommend solutions for complex accounting, forecasting, and reporting challenges.
* Identifies, researches, and recommends process improvements.
* Directs staff and is responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance and salary reviews, disciplinary action, and termination.##
** Other Duties
*** Directs planning and execution of various special projects as required.
* Ensures accurate and timely completion of all required management reporting.
* Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.##
** Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
*** Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles and procedures.
* Strong knowledge of investment strategy and practices.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Solid PC Skills including Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel, as well as experience with investment accounting software.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Strong project management skills.
* Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
* Ability to direct staff.##
** Qualifications
* ** Bachelor's Degree required.
* Master's Degree (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
* 8+ years of related experience required.
