We are a busy professional household (physician + engineer) looking for a reliable, detail-oriented student to help with small household projects, coordination tasks, and online errands.
Position Type: Part-time student worker
Hours:
~5 hours per week during school, possibly up to 20 during the summer (flexible)
Location: Hybrid (some remote + some in-person help)
Schedule:
Flexible, coordinated week-to-week
This role is ideal for a student who enjoys organizing, problem-solving, and helping projects move from “idea” to “done.”
The role is flexible and partly a handy-person role, getting things done, and also about coordination, follow-up, and execution.
ResponsibilitiesExamples of tasks include:
- Coordinating small home improvement or repair projects
- Requesting quotes and scheduling visits
- Tracking follow-ups and next steps
- Online tasks and research
- Ordering replacement parts for household items
- Comparing options and prices
- Tracking deliveries and returns
- Selling household items online (eBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc.)
- Communicating with buyers
- Packing and shipping items
- Light in-person assistance as needed
- Assisting with simple setup or prep tasks
This role is a good fit if you are:
- Organized and good at following through on tasks
- Comfortable writing clear, professional emails
- Tech-savvy (online ordering, listings, basic troubleshooting)
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Comfortable asking clarifying questions and giving status updates
Bonus (not required):
- Handy or mechanically curious
Required:
- Current enrollment at Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, or other Lansing-area institute of higher education with a record in good academic standing
- Approximately 5 hours per week, with flexibility around exams and school schedule
- Tasks are assigned in small, manageable chunks
