Key Responsibilities
Employees in this role perform and complete a variety of professional assignments involving the review, investigation, and analysis of workplace operations, environment, equipment, and production methods in a broad range of general industry workplaces. The work ensures the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSH Act) and other workplace safety rules and regulations are appropriately adhered to, providing a safe and healthy work environment for Michigan workers.
Responsibilities include applying industry standards, policies, and regulations to minimize potential safety and health risks in the workplace. Typical duties involve field inspections, documentation of inspection results, administrative tasks, meetings, and training. Initial orientation and training period lasts 5–6 months, with part‑time residency in Lansing during that period. A typical 40‑hour workweek: two days in the field conducting inspections, two days at home documenting results, and one day performing administrative duties.
