In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring a Substitute Secretary. Secretaries serve in many capacities in our schools and buildings. They are responsible for overseeing attendance records, school wide communications, substitute teacher staffing, customer service support, and much more. Individuals who are passionate organizers, professional communicators, and helpful team members will thrive in this role.
Preferred Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent that includes, or has been supplemented by, secretarial, business or commercial courses.
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, filing systems, equipment/computers, and procedures.
- Knowledge of correct English usage, punctuation, and spelling; organization, punctuation, and composition of business letters, minutes, report, charts, and numerical/tabular materials.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
- Capable of using diplomacy, discretion, and judgment in giving out information and referring callers.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM required; all candidates must successfully pass the secretarial skills test.
- Previous secretarial experience preferred.
- Professional phone etiquette.
- Communicate updates, events, and announcements with the entire building community through letters, phone calls, and other mediums
- Maintain attendance and personnel files for building community
- Handle confidential information and materials with discretion
- Utilize customer service skills when communicating with school visitors, parents, and other stakeholders
- Schedule meetings as needed for building leaders
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
