This position is responsible for processing parole violation returns on a daily basis and forwarding the information to the RGC, Parole Violation Unit for revocation processing. Staff in this unit is responsible for processing the return of offenders who are arrested out of state. This includes the following; contacting out-of-state law enforcement agencies, obtaining police reports, gathering information regarding the disposition of charges, issuing warrants, filing detainers, entering parole violation charges and scheduling transportation.

Staff is responsible for the processing of extensions and special conditions as requested by field staff. Staff assists in the scheduling of offenders ordered to IDRP. Staff receives daily calls and email inquiries from law enforcement agencies, FOA field staff, and the general public. This position utilizes the following Department Computerized Databases (DCD):
Corrections Offender Management System (COMS), Offender Management System (OMS), Offender Management Network Information (OMNI), Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) and SharePoint.

Required Education And Experience Education

Education typically acquired through completion of high school

Experience
  • Departmental Technician 7 – One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.
  • Departmental Technician 8 – One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.
  • OR – One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.
  • Departmental Technician E9 – One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
  • OR – One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
  • OR – Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.
Alternate Education And Experience
  • Departmental Technician 7 – Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
  • Departmental Technician 8 – Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
  • Departmental Technician E9 – Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Additional Requirements And Information

Work Location:

This position is located in Lansing, Michigan and will require reporting in person for the first two weeks. After the initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be approved that will allow work to be performed remotely up to 50% of the time with the other 50% of the work being performed in-person in Lansing.
