Safety plays a major role in successful completion of our activities. With this commitment in mind, we strive to assure that no person will work in surroundings or under conditions that are unsafe or dangerous to their health. We pursue an active, comprehensive accident prevention policy in all our operations. Collaborating with our General Contractor partners to achieve the goal of Zero Incident worksites is a high priority.
As a team, we recognize that construction is an inherently hazardous industry. Therefore, we work every day and, in every situation, to bring Safety awareness and action to our work and our lives.
The Site Safety Manager’s role is to work with the Team Safety to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents, monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities and develop policies to promote occupational health and safety awareness.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following responsibilities are representative but not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Safety Oversight & Inspections- Conduct regular site safety inspections to identify and correct hazardous conditions.
- Review and approve Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documents and Pre-Task Plans prior to work commencement.
- Review job-specific permits including Hot Work, Confined Space, Grating Removal, and others as applicable.
- Maintain Safety Boards and ensure postings are current and visible to all personnel.
- Promote and model safe work practices across all project activities.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in alignment with OSHA and applicable government agency guidelines.
- Define and maintain OT/SCADA architecture standards pertaining to safety-critical systems where applicable.
- Ensure all site activities comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate OSHA recordkeeping, incident logs, and required regulatory documentation.
- Lead accident and near-miss investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop, schedule, and conduct emergency response drills to ensure site preparedness.
- Respond promptly and effectively to employee safety concerns and reports.
- Facilitate New Hire Safety Orientation for all incoming project personnel.
- Develop and conduct Tool Box Talks on a regular and topic-relevant basis.
- Provide ongoing safety training to field personnel, subcontractors, and project staff.
- Inspect and maintain records for critical safety equipment including air monitoring devices, fall protection equipment, and other life‑safety gear.
- Oversee the Site Safety Committee, including agenda‑setting, facilitation, and follow‑through on action items.
Reports to the Senior Safety Manager. Works in close collaboration with Project Directors, Project Managers, Site Managers, Construction Superintendents, and Field Supervision across all active construction projects. The Site Safety Manager holds ultimate authority to halt work and enforce safety compliance on all Gallagher‑Kaiser project sites.
Qualifications & Requirements Education- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry in a safety‑focused role.
