The Role:
Reporting to the Health & Safety Supervisor, the Mine Rescue & ER Specialist is a key site-based role responsible for supporting health and safety operations, leading the mine rescue program, coordinating emergency preparedness activities, and ensuring compliance with site, state, and federal safety requirements.
This role has a strong focus on mine rescue leadership, emergency response training, refuge chamber servicing, MSHA compliance, self-contained self-rescuer management, inspections, audits, and workforce training across both surface and underground environments.

CompensationHourly salary

- Lead the mine rescue program, including training plans, documentation, equipment readiness, and program coordination.
- Coordinate emergency response and evacuation drills across surface and underground work areas.
- Service refuge chambers and associated emergency response systems.
- Manage inventory, inspection, and disposal of self-contained self-rescuers.
- Provide technical guidance and training support to employees and contractors on site H&S standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support operational MSHA compliance activities and act as a key field liaison with H&S regulators.
- Conduct inspections, surveys, audits, and studies to identify conditions affecting health and safety compliance.
- Support corrective action close-out, audit findings, incident prevention, and continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with occupational health and industrial hygiene programs.
- Provide support during emergency situations and help maintain safe working conditions across the operation.
Underground mining experience required.
Qualifications- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant field preferred.
- Working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and U.S. state/federal safety regulations preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering safety, emergency response, or mine rescue training.
- Strong understanding of emergency preparedness, mine rescue equipment, refuge chambers, and self-rescuer systems.
- Comfortable working across both underground and surface environments.
- CSP, CIH, or CMSP certification desirable.
- Accountable, calm under pressure, and confident making decisions in changing or ambiguous situations.
