Scripps Fox affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a passionate Multimedia Journalist who will bring the stories of our community to life across multiple platforms. • Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop compelling story ideas
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research
• Organize material and write according to editorial style and format standards
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories
• Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms
• Appear on television when conducting taped interviews or narration
• Deliver live reports from the scene of events or from our mobile broadcast unit
• Work collaboratively with photographers when assigned to stories
• Assist news producers in preparing newscasts
• Support online staff in preparing multimedia stories

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

• Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems
• Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
• Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
• Ability to edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems or similar equipment
• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
• Proficiency at posting content to various websites
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
