Scale and Gate Attendant; Lansing, MI

What You’ll Do

• Accurately process transactions for waste disposal, including calculating charges, collecting payments and issuing receipts
• Weigh incoming loads and record data for billing and compliance purposes
• Inspect loads to ensure materials meet disposal guidelines and safety standards
• Direct customers and drivers to appropriate dumping or recycling areas
• Communicate procedures, restrictions and expectations clearly to customers and drivers
• Maintain accurate records, including scale tickets and customer account notes
• Provide administrative and data entry support to customer service functions
• Deliver professional, friendly service and resolve customer questions or concerns

• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience required
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between locations as needed
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft 365
• Strong attention to detail, communication and reliability
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• High school diploma or GED required

Primary location:
Lansing, MI

Regular schedule:
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

• Backfill coverage at other locations as needed
• Shift times may vary between 5:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
• Occasional Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon

This position is designated safety-sensitive. The associate will operate a vehicle or other equipment on behalf of Granger Waste Services as an essential function of their job and must comply with all applicable safety and drug and alcohol policies.
