The Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation (PDI) at Michigan State University (MSU) is seeking applications for a 3-year residency position in veterinary anatomic pathology, beginning July 1, 2027. This position includes two additional months of financial support (July and August) which funds residents through the Phase II board exam in August. The initial 2 years of training is based at the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) in Lansing, Michigan, which receives up to 1,500 necropsy (including field necropsy) and approximately 22,000 surgical biopsy accessions per year from a diverse range of animal species.

The third year is located at Charles River Laboratories (CRL) in Mattawan, Michigan, where residents receive training in laboratory animal pathology, good laboratory practice, and drug safety evaluation. This residency fulfills eligibility requirements for the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board-certification exam and provides a unique training experience for residents interested in a career in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree with an English or English-translated and notariz ed veterinary diploma from an AVMA- accredited or AVMA-listed international veterinary school (an ACVP requirement ). Applications should include a curriculum vitae, official veterinary college transcripts with cumulative grade point average and class standing (if available), a statement of career goals, and three letters of reference.
