Position: Summer School Teacher: Historic Trails and Tales (Ebersole)

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. Job Description

These staff members (3 LSEA) would be responsible for attending Ebersole’s mandatory summer camp training on June 11 and one extended day camp (see details below). Onsite staff members will be asked to assist in facilitating/leading camp sessions (all materials and training will be provided in advance). These staff members are expected to ride the bus with students to and from camp for each session.

Camp Description

Join us at the Ebersole Center as campers step back in time to explore Michigan’s fascinating history! They’ll immerse themselves in the past by playing old‑fashioned games, crafting handmade treasures, and experiencing the thrilling (and sometimes tough!) challenges of life in the 1800s. This is a hands‑on journey into history that promises fun, discovery, and unforgettable memories!

There are two camps available. All individuals must attend training, but then we are hiring for both Extended Day Camps.

Camp Schedule
  • Staff Training (All Grade Levels) = June 11
  • Grades K-2 = June 17
  • Grades 3-5 = June 18
  • Grades 6-8 = July 7
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelors’Degree;
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or equivalent);
  • Successful experience working with students in K-12 settings;
  • Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality planning and engaging content delivery;
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills;
  • Experience and/or willingness to be trained in project‑based learning (PREFERRED);
  • Willingness to think creatively about content design and ways to assess student learning; and
  • Commitment to working closely with Ebersole director and staff.
PER LSEA CONTRACT Hours/Day

Up to 18 hours
