Secondary Science Teacher (1–2 Positions)

LOCATION: Unionville-Sebewaing Area Middle/High School

START DATE: August 2026

Position Summary

The District is seeking qualified, student-centered educators to fill one or two Secondary Science teaching positions beginning August 2026. The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate a strong commitment to instructional excellence, collaborative teamwork, and fostering high levels of learning for all students.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, standards-aligned science instruction for students in grades 6–12 (assignment based on certification and district need)
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to Michigan Academic Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as applicable
  • Use formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Implement MTSS practices to support student achievement
  • Maintain a safe and effective laboratory learning environment in accordance with district and state safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
  • Participate in district professional development and continuous improvement efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate secondary science endorsement (DX, DI, DA, DC, or other appropriate endorsement based on assignment)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in science instruction and inquiry-based learning
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dual certification highly preferred (e.g., additional endorsement in mathematics, special education, or another secondary content area)
  • Experience teaching middle and/or high school science
  • Experience working within an MTSS or PBIS framework
  • Familiarity with curriculum alignment and standards-based grading
  • Experience integrating technology and hands‑on laboratory experiences into instruction
Compensation

Salary and benefits per the Master Agreement.
