We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a 1st Grade Teacher Assistant at Delta Center Elementary. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work closely with students and support the classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, committed to fostering a positive learning atmosphere, and skilled in assisting teachers in delivering engaging instruction to young learners.
Responsibilities
* Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and educational activities for 1st-grade students.
* Provide individualized support to students, including tutoring and guidance in academic subjects.
* Help maintain a positive and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
* Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, and transitions to ensure safety and proper behavior.
* Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher.
* Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to support student learning and development.
* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
* Perform administrative tasks, such as grading assignments and maintaining student records, as needed.
* Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes respect and collaboration among students.
Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
* Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
* Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in helping young learners succeed.
* Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods.
* Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support instruction.
* First Aid and CPR certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification.
* Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
