The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK-12 students across 25 school buildings in the increasingly diverse urban community of Lansing, MI. In pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a District Support Specialist who will work with the Office of School Culture.

As a District Support Specialist, you'll spearhead student intervention programs, drive Social Emotional Learning initiatives, and provide impactful training sessions. With a key role on threat assessment teams, you'll offer personalized support and craft innovative behavior plans. Join us in shaping education's future and transforming students' lives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing student intervention programs within school settings.
  • Previous experience providing counseling or social work services to at risk students and families.
  • Alignment with the Lansing School District's mission and values
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understand root causes of student behavior issues.
  • Use effective strategies to reduce at‑risk behaviors.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and communities for mental health and academic improvement.
  • Analyze, implement, and track intervention plans.
  • Coordinate communication between stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage school‑wide intervention programs.
  • Collaborate successfully with district staff, administration, families, and students to improve behavior.

  • Develop and oversee prevention and intervention programs for students.
  • Support school-wide Social Emotional Learning initiatives.
  • Provide training on various topics including crisis response and behavior intervention.
  • Serve on district behavioral threat assessment team.
  • Offer transition services for returning students.
  • Assist in planning programs to support student learning.
  • Coordinate services and provide interventions for students and families.

$33.43 - $42.71 an hour

This role is placed in Column EE on the LSEA Hourly Schedule. This role will work approximately eight hours a day, five days a week for the entirety of the school year (approximately 189 days).
