Job Summary

Adjuncts in this position work at LCC Downtown Lansing campus or clinical/externship sites. In-person attendance is required; remote work is not offered.

  • Teaching format includes didactic, lab, and practicum at all levels.
  • Assignments primarily on campus with occasional off‑campus or online tasks.
  • Collaborate with senior faculty, coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content aligned with syllabi and national standards.
  • Duties include planning, preparation, instruction delivery, assessment, grading, and student support.
  • May involve participation in course assessment, department meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development, and other duties.
Teaching Load & Workload Limits
  • Fall Semester: not exceed 12 workload hours of teaching plus preparation, assessment, and office hours.
  • Spring Semester: same 12 workload hours limit.
  • Summer Semester: not exceed 10 workload hours of teaching plus related duties.
  • Workload increases do not change part‑time status of bargaining‑unit members.
Professional Activities

In addition to or in lieu of teaching assignments, part‑time faculty may receive non‑teaching assignments such as course development or revision, curriculum development, student advising, leadership assignments, etc., provided the workload does not regularly exceed 30 clock hours per week or 1560 hours per academic year.

General Qualifications
  • Associate Degree OR Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited program OR HS diploma/GED with at least 10 years of work experience in the Medical Assistant field or related.
  • Current RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) OR current CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) credential OR State of Michigan RN, LPN, or Paramedic license.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in an ambulatory care medical setting in a clinical and/or administrative role.
  • If a degree is required, applicants must submit unofficial copies of transcripts from all institutions where a degree was conferred or coursework completed.
  • Applicants with foreign educational credentials must provide a credential evaluation from a NACES member service (e.g., Educational Credential Evaluators, World Education Services, International Education Research Foundation) and include it with the application.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Leadership, or a related health discipline from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Teaching experience at the college or community college level.
  • Experience with course management systems such as Desire2

    Learn, Canvas, Blackboard, or Angel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including email, electronic calendars, and presentation software.

Regular on‑campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Flexible or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
