Job Summary
LCC's Fitness program is currently looking for faculty to teach physical fitness courses to students pursuing the Electrical Utility Lineworker Program. Teaching duties will be primarily on LCC's West Campus.
Adjunct positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications stops for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.
Adjunct (part‑time) faculty in this position teach courses in didactic and lab formats at all levels of Physical Fitness training. Depending upon program needs and the candidate’s qualifications, teaching assignments will primarily be on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus with the possibility of West campus, East campus, and/or online assignments. An on‑campus presence and traditional in‑person teaching is required.
Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with senior department faculty, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content consistent with official course syllabi and industry standards.
- Plan and prepare course materials.
- Deliver instruction to students.
- Assess and grade students.
- Assist students outside of class.
- Participate in course assessment.
- Attend department/program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed.
- Demonstrate commitment to the diversity of a multi‑cultural population and work effectively in a team‑based environment.

Each part‑time Teaching Faculty member shall be accountable for teaching workload subject to the following limits:
- Adjunct Instructors shall not exceed twelve (12) workload hours during the Fall Semester and twelve (12) workload hours during the Spring Semester, including preparation and assessment.
- Adjunct Instructors shall not exceed ten (10) workload hours during the Summer Semester.
- For Physical Fitness and Wellness, and Performing Arts, limits are 14 hours during Fall and Spring, and 12 hours during Summer.
- Workload increases do not change the part‑time status.
- Non‑teaching assignments such as course development, curriculum development, student advising, leadership assignments, may be assigned provided workload does not exceed thirty (30) clock hours per week or 1,560 clock hours in an academic year.
- These assignments do not modify the minimum workload opportunities or obligations as set forth in the employment practices.
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Current national fitness certification from an accredited organization, maintained throughout employment.
- Current American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS & AED Certification, maintained throughout employment.
- Significant experience working in fitness or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population and as a member of a team.
- Unofficial transcripts for all colleges and universities attended (if required).
- Foreign education credentials must be evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Fitness or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Teaching experience at the college or community college level.
- Experience with course management systems such as Desire2
Learn, Canvas, Blackboard, Angel. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including email, electronic calendars, presentation software.
- LCC policy requires all employees to reside in the State of Michigan and perform all work within the State.
- All LCC employees must have regular on‑campus presence; flexible or hybrid schedules require College approval.
- Final candidates will undergo a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
