American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher
Do you have a passion for teaching American Sign Language and making a difference in the lives of students? Soliant Education is seeking a dynamic and dedicated ASL Teacher to join our team in Rosebush, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and empower students while contributing to their academic and personal growth.
Position: American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher Location: Rosebush, Michigan Caseload: TBD, but likely high school
Requirements:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate preferred, with endorsement in American Sign Language (FS).
- Solid subject matter knowledge in ASL 1 through ASL 4.
- Consideration will be given to individuals with:
- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
- Higher level American Sign Language background as indicated below:
- Certified teacher with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SL) endorsement; must demonstrate ASL proficiency level of 3 on the ASLPI or an Intermediate+ on the SLPI.
- Certified teacher with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SL) endorsement; must demonstrate ASL proficiency level of 2 on the ASLPI or a Survival+ on the SLPI (district would obtain Full-Year Sub Permit).
- Non-certified teacher; must demonstrate ASL proficiency level of 2 on the ASLPI or a Survival+ on the SLPI (district would obtain Full-Year Sub Permit).
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging and effective ASL curriculum.
- Provide instruction to students at various proficiency levels.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support student success.
