The Dean of Students & Community Liaison is responsible for supporting student behavior, attendance, and overall school climate at the Jr./Sr. High School. This role combines leadership in student discipline with proactive engagement of families to support student success.
This position requires strong leadership, visibility, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment, and committed to maintaining a positive and respectful school culture.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate or administrative certification preferred
- Experience in student discipline, attendance/truancy processes, or school leadership preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build relationships and effectively engage families and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain confidentiality
- Promote a positive school climate through proactive behavior supports
- Support and manage student discipline in alignment with district policies and procedures
- Assist with student supervision during the school day (hallways, lunch, arrival/dismissal, etc.)
- Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community to support student success
- Monitor and manage student attendance, including truancy tracking and reporting requirements
- Work directly with students and families to address attendance concerns and remove barriers to regular attendance
- Collaborate with administration, staff, and outside agencies to support at‑risk students
- Participate in intervention and support processes (MTSS/behavior supports)
- Maintain accurate documentation related to student discipline, attendance, and interventions
- Support building safety procedures and protocols
