Junior/Senior High School and Intermediate School Principals and/or Superintendent of Schools

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Guidance and Counseling (NT)
  • Coordinate M STEP testing and student assessments
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the Michigan Merit Curriculum, national/state/local assessments, and Grade Level Content Expectations
  • Competent in using a variety of technology applications: 21st Century Learning, differentiated instruction, Power School experience preferred
  • Student focused
  • Maintains professional standards
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills
  • Possess strong technology skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with administration and other teachers/staff members
  • Experience with Advanced Placement preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional rapport with students, staff and families

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate testing and student assessments
  • Evaluate student transcripts to assure that students have the necessary credits to graduate
  • Advise students on selection of courses required for graduation
  • Collect, report, and interpret data for student success
  • Do regular checks with students
  • Track student attendance academic progress, and career path
  • Advise and counsel students
  • Part of the District crisis response team
  • Teach socially accepted behavior by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system
  • Create, modify and implement effective behavioral intervention strategies for students based on best practice principles and current data
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students and activities, as required by laws, district policies, and administrative procedures
  • Develop plans for effective communication, monitoring, and follow-up of students and parents
  • Help organize and participate in curriculum information sessions, school visits for new students, open houses, awards night, graduation, college/other visits, etc.
  • Attend meetings, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to communicate with others and clearly understand normal conversations in person and on the telephone. Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.

The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

Work Hours/Days: Follows the school calendar; plus additional days as needed (compensated)

Salary/Compensation: Per EA Contract
