Education Coach - Northern Michigan Sites Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all relevant regulations, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, State of Michigan Child Care Licensing Rules, Early Childhood Standards of Quality, and the Northern Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA) policies.
  • Facilitate group activities and collaborate effectively to achieve shared goals, using research-based methods and curriculum assessments for planning.
  • Maintain proficiency in web-based platforms, video tools, Zoom, and SWIVL for communication and instructional purposes.
  • Contribute to setting and achieving program goals, ensuring ongoing progress.
  • Recruit eligible children and families to ensure full classroom enrollment, track attendance, and meet enrollment targets.
  • Ensure classroom environments meet all program requirements, including Creative Curriculum, School Readiness goals, Conscious Discipline, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and other quality standards.
  • Provide coaching and professional development to teachers, using assessment data and child outcomes to guide lesson planning and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Oversee family engagement activities to ensure alignment with school readiness goals and coordinate transition plans for children and families.
  • Build relationships with professional agencies and collaborate with Intermediate School Districts (ISD) to support children’s growth and development.
  • Assist teachers in implementing individualized plans for children with disabilities, ensuring IEP goals are integrated into lesson plans and home visits.
  • Observe teacher-child interactions, conduct CLASS assessments, and provide actionable feedback to improve teaching practices and child outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate data-driven study groups and professional development opportunities tailored to teacher needs and program goals.
  • Ensure timely completion of reports, maintain accurate records, and use tools like Child Plus for data tracking.
  • Adhere to the work schedule and meet all professional and personal health requirements. Complete 24 hours of annual training and maintain up-to-date certifications and compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in regular meetings with teachers, site supervisors, and the Education Coach Manager (ECM) to monitor progress and drive continuous improvement.
  • Report to the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) within 3 business days following any criminal arraignment or conviction, as required by state guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education and Experience
  • BA/BS degree in early childhood education or related field.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children and mentoring teachers.
  • Experience collaborating in a team environment.
