Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor

In the pursuit of this mission, we are hiring a Theatre/ Art Teacher. We are seeking a passionate and creative Theatre/ Art Teacher to inspire students through dynamic instruction in acting, stagecraft, and performance. This role offers the opportunity to lead a vibrant theatre program, fostering students’ artistic expression, collaboration, and confidence both on and off the stage. Qualifications- Education & Certification
- Bachelor's degree in theatre, performing arts, music, or music education required (or related field)
- Michigan Teacher Certification in Art, Music, or English strongly preferred
- Previous successful experience teaching in an urban high school environment
- Previous performing arts experience
- Previous experience putting on large scale drama productions in a school or community theatre environment
- Knowledge of restorative justice practices
- Knowledge of stagecraft and dramatic production
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
- Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces.
- Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families.
- May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties.
- Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students.
- Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication.
- Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
