Elementary Teacher

Position Title:

Full Time Elementary Teacher

Reports To:

Building Principal

Position Summary:

Responsible for creating and delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. The teacher fosters academic growth, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior in their students, collaborating with colleagues and families to support student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons in all core subjects aligned to the Michigan K–5 standards or district curriculum.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including those with IEPs, 504 plans, English learners, and gifted learners.
  • Assess student learning regularly (formative and summative assessments), analyze data, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, grades, and other documentation in compliance with district policies.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom climate, with clear expectations, routines, and procedures.
  • Integrate technology, hands‑on activities, and project‑based learning as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with grade‑level teams, instructional coaches, specialists, and other staff.
  • Participate in parent‑teacher conferences, communicate with families, and respond to parent inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and other district‑required events.
  • Uphold district and state curricular, behavioral, and safety policies.
  • Maintain professional growth through continuing education, reflection, and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education required.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
  • Knowledge of state standards, curriculum development, and assessment practices.
  • Passage of required Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) content exam(s) for elementary endorsement.
  • Previous teaching or student‑teaching experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain if required by the district.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work Schedule

Full time position following the district approved calendar for the academic year.
