Job Description- Three‑Year‑Old Preschool Aide – Extended Day
- Pay grade 3
- 6 hours per day, 7:15am – 1:15pm (Mon‑Fri)
- Hourly rate: $15.44 – $16.89
- New position effective 2026/27 school year
Supports the teacher to ensure the best possible learning experience for preschool‑age children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality.
Duties and Responsibilities(These duties and responsibilities are judged to be “essential functions” in terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA.)
- Assist the classroom under the supervision of the teacher as directed; duties may include crafts, games, stories, lunchtime, etc.
- Assist teacher in planning and organizing daily events.
- Assist children that are not toilet trained, as needed.
- Monitor children on the playground.
- Communicate with community, staff, and students to answer questions, disseminate or explain information.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
12 hours of early childhood development classes and CPR/First Aid certification yearly per state requirement.
Experience:
- Experience working with children’s groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare, preferred.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required.
Skills:
- Good communication skills, required.
Abilities:
- Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required.
- Ability to relate to children with special needs, required.
- Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including but not limited to understanding and following safety instructions, responding appropriately to emergency situations, completing documentation, and interacting with English‑speaking staff, students, community and supervisors, required.
The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, talk and hear; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds of files, materials, computer and audio‑visual equipment, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
