Title: 1 Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: $44,000 to $55,000 per year (YCEA Contract)

Endorsements: Must have a valid endorsement in your content area

Summary

Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth, contributing to their development as mature, capable, and responsible adults.

Education and/or Experience

Valid Michigan teaching certificate

Bachelor's degree with required certification

Relevant teaching experience will receive extra consideration

Excellent reasoning ability

Understanding of concepts in your content area

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach district-approved curriculum

Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and times

Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests

Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards

Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicating these to students

Diagnose educational needs of students

Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports

Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours

Turnaround Skills

Collaborate and create clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning

Align curriculum, instruction, and assessments while responding to individual student needs

Implement a tiered system of instruction to meet all students’ needs

Discuss subject-specific content instruction and drive to try new ideas to improve student learning

Coordinate instruction within and across grade levels

Seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches, or administrators for instructional support

Thrive in a professional environment of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional bending or twisting at the neck.

Work Environment

Moderate to loud noise level; frequent interaction with students and staff; responsible for safety, well-being, and output of students.
