OverviewTeach courses in Spanish, consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees focusing on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Contribute to curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and actively engage in college initiatives. Demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi‑cultural population and work effectively in a team‑based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Flexible or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Spanish Studies or in a related field (e.g., linguistics, second‑language acquisition, language pedagogy) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish from a regionally accredited institution.
- Native or near‑native proficiency in Spanish and English languages.
- PhD in Spanish Language from a regionally accredited college or university OR PhD in a related field with a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate‑level coursework in the discipline.
- College teaching experience.
- Demonstration of technology use in the classroom and the ability to utilize the required technology for assigned course(s).
- If the candidate is in a PhD program in Spanish or a related field without a Master’s degree, a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Spanish studies is an alternative to the Master’s degree requirement. Coursework must reflect competencies in the course(s) to be taught.
LCC policy requires all employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work within the State of Michigan.
