202 Peer Tutors will work with the teaching faculty and professional tutors as assigned throughout the semester. Responsibilities include engaging in student outreach, facilitating regularly scheduled study groups, participating in on‑going tutor training sessions, and attending department‑wide meetings. The Learning Commons department is committed to providing a friendly, inspiring, supportive, and helpful work and learning environment through a culture of care.

Peer Tutors must be able to commit to working at least 8 hours per week during the semester. Evening and weekend assignments may be required.

A Peer Tutor’s primary role in the Learning Commons Department is to provide excellent services to support student success initiatives of the College, which also promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Regular on‑campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Flexible or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

• Enrolled and actively attending a minimum of 6.0 credits per semester for Fall and/or Spring (over 16 weeks). Summer semesters require a minimum of 3.0 credits (over 8 weeks).
• Minimum GPA of 2.00 unless it’s the student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC or the Student Employment Coordinator has waived the requirement.
• International students (F‑1 visa holders) must meet the following enrollment requirements each semester: 12 credits for Fall and/or Spring (over 16 weeks) and 3 credits for Summer (over 8 weeks).
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 at LCC or from high school.
• Completion of either BIOL
  201 or BIOL
  202 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Two references: one from a BIOL
  201 or BIOL
  202 instructor, and one from a non‑family member such as a current or former employer, teacher, or scout leader.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).

• 3.5 GPA or better at LCC or from high school.
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, teaching, or coaching (may be volunteer, internship, or professional).
• Experience in customer service (may be volunteer, internship, or professional).
