Adjunct positions are filled by semester on an as‑needed basis. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy; review of applications then stops for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.
The Music Program at Lansing Community College seeks adjunct (part‑time) faculty to teach applied and private lessons to voice and/or piano students. Faculty may have the opportunity to teach other courses in the Music Program.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching applied and private lessons to voice and/or piano students.
- Participating in program/department meetings and divisional/college‑wide committees focused on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes.
- Participating in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and college initiatives.
- Participating in student assessment initiatives within the program and college, and implementing the determinations of those initiatives.
- Demonstrating a commitment to the diversity of a multicultural population, working effectively in a team‑based environment, seeking continuous improvement, and adhering to the community college philosophy.
Regular on‑campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on LCC community needs.
LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.
Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
Required QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Music from a regionally accredited college or university; or Master’s Degree in a related field (from a regionally accredited college or university) with a minimum of 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) of graduate‑level coursework in Music.
Alternative
Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Music or related from a regionally accredited college or university plus 2 years of professional experience; or Associate’s Degree in Music or related from a regionally accredited college or university plus 4 years of professional experience; or 6 years of professional experience.

If an educational degree is required, unofficial copies of transcripts from each institution must be submitted as part of the application.
Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching at a college level (may include graduate teaching assistant).
Experience leading an ensemble (such as choir).
