Summary:

The Film and Video Production program at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a Visiting Professor of film studies for the 2026-27 academic year, beginning on August 6, 2026. The successful candidate will teach four courses per semester in film studies, related to film history, theory, and/or criticism. The Film & Video Production major, as a discipline within the department of Visual and Media Arts, emphasizes the integration of theory and practice.

Required Qualifications and

Education:
  • Master''s degree (MA or equivalent) in film studies or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications and

  • Ph.D. in film studies or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered)
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education
Responsibilities:
  • Teach 12 credits per semester in the Film and Video Production program, related to film history, theory, and/or criticism (normally 4 courses).
  • Be available outside of class time to meet with students independently as needed through regularly scheduled office hours.
Salary/Benefits:

The salary is $50,000.
