Reading Interventionist

Overview

The Lansing School District serves over 10,000 PreK‑12 students across 25 school buildings in Lansing, MI. We are hiring literacy intervention teachers to ensure no student falls behind in literacy through pull‑out support, individual tutoring, and other supplemental work.

• Provide pull‑out support and individualized tutoring to students below grade‑level reading skills.
• Work collaboratively with school leadership, teachers, parents, and students to support reading growth.
• Provide instructional coaching to other teachers in the building.

• Bachelor's degree in education or an ELA‑related field (e.g., English, Creative Writing, Journalism).
• Previous experience working with students in an urban education setting.
• Alignment with the district's mission and values.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a reading endorsement (e.g.,  , BT).
• Training in CRPBIS and other related instructional methodologies.
• Demonstrated passion for and expertise in reading.
• Ability to provide world‑class instruction in ELA to students in need of intervention support.
• Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction.
• Ability to learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions.
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned to best support the district's mission.
