ESL Teacher Position
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative ESL teacher to fulfill a vacancy in the Adult Education program. Position Type:

Oak Valley Center Salary: $25.50 - $27.50/hr
Start Date:
08/25/2026 Work year:
September-December and January-May. Two 15-week semesters Paid class time:
Monday & Wednesday mornings Total: 9.0 paid hours per week
Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (any subject area or grade level) ELA, ESL, Special Education, or Tesol certifications preferred, though not required. Understanding/proficiency in a foreign language is preferred, though not required. Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment Must meet NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified: holding at minimum a teacher certification in any grade level or area
Essential FunctionsProvide educational instruction in English language communication skills (understanding, speaking, reading, and writing) and civics education to non-native English speakers. Assist in English language acquisition to help ESL students to obtain jobs and gain access to educational opportunities. Increase the basic reading, writing, speaking and numeracy/math skills necessary for adults to obtain employment and self-sufficiency and to successfully advance in the workforce.
Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's Degree or higher.
Language, Mathematical and Reasoning SkillsAbility to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
