About The RoleUnder the direction of the administrator and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Ingham Intermediate School District, the Adaptive Physical Education Teacher at Beekman Center is responsible to facilitate physical education and recreational programs for students with disabilities in the Ingham Intermediate School District.
- Implements and utilizes adaptive physical education curriculum for all classrooms through scheduled APE times.
- Provides input to Individualized Educational Planning team meetings for students and attends meetings, if needed.
- Provides and coordinates direct individual/small group adapted and special physical education instruction to students with disabilities to meet desired goals that promote motor development, recreation and leisure skills.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Physical Education and/or Special Education.
- Meet state requirements for teachers of students requiring adapted physical education.
- Possess or be willing to obtain Water Safety Instructor certification.
