Overview

Waverly Community Schools is announcing an opening for two Waverly Student Center Child Care Associate Teacher positions.

Location:

East Intermediate & Colt Early Childhood Education Center.

Start Date:

August 24, 2026. Salary: $15.50 per hour. Work hours vary based on program needs, with summer hours typically Monday–Friday 12:00 pm–6:00 pm; during the school year, hours are 6:15 am–8:15 am and 2:00 pm–6:00 pm, with additional hours on half days and no-school days.

Application Process:

• Provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times.
• Work cooperatively with the Student Center Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Lead Caregiver; location/classroom assignment may change with minimal notice.
• Obtain training in nonviolent crisis intervention and CPR/AED and first aid as needed, or willingness to obtain.
• Attend and engage in continuous professional development as appropriate.
• Engage in activities with children at their developmental and physical levels.
• Implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs.
• Maintain student confidentiality.
• Ensure high-quality care and supervision of children at all times.
• Monitor and evaluate the safety of all children.
• Develop positive parental rapport; communicate effectively with families.
• Ensure the safety and health of children and provide a consistent, caring environment.
• Escort students to/from classes, lunch, and the bus; assist students with disabilities within the classroom.
• Supervise students during lunch/recess and assist with toileting needs as required; assist with lifting up to 65 pounds.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must pass district and LARA fingerprint background checks.
• Able to complete 24 clock hours of documented early childhood/school age training in the calendar year.
• Completed non-violent crisis intervention (CPI) training or willingness to obtain.

• Prior experience with preschool/early childhood preferred.
• Prior experience with students with disabilities and/or special needs.

• Regular and reliable job attendance; effective communication with children, families, Licensee Designee, Lead Caregiver, and program staff.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with a moderate to high degree of mental and physical demands due to student needs.
• Self-directed with minimal supervision; ability to manage behaviors (verbal and physical).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; willingness to seek additional training.
• Respect for confidentiality and student privacy; flexibility and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to supporting organizational goals and efforts.
