Position Summary

The Teacher of Students with Emotional Impairment is responsible for providing and coordinating the instructional program for students in the assigned classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Assessing students’ achievements and tailoring instructional strategies to meet their needs.
  • Collaborating with staff, parents, and community agencies to support student development.
  • Participating in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
  • Implementing behavior intervention plans and health care procedures as needed.
  • Engaging in professional development and staying current with best practices in emotional impairment education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an Emotional Impairment endorsement.
  • Successful student teaching experience required; two years of experience preferred.
  • Meet State of Michigan Department of Human Services clearance requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move students, follow individualized support plans, and work collaboratively in team environments.

Pay Range: $47,496 - $92,683 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Paid Time Off:

  • 7 Sick and 3 Personal Business Days
