Support the Lead Teacher and classroom team in providing a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate GSRP preschool program in Tekonsha.
POSITION SUMMARY
The GSRP Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher and classroom team in delivering a safe, engaging, developmentally appropriate preschool program in Tekonsha. The position shares responsibility for active supervision, daily routines, learning experiences, child documentation, family communication, and consistent compliance with GSRP, CISD, licensing, and Community Unlimited expectations.

Average 37.5 hours per week; follows CU and school calendars
Compensation: $18.25-$21.91 per hour, based on education and experience

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Lead Teacher with developmentally appropriate curriculum, learning centers, small- and large-group experiences, outdoor learning, and daily classroom routines.
- Maintain active supervision and use positive guidance while protecting each child’s health, safety, dignity, and well-being.
- Support meals and snacks, toileting or diapering when needed, rest time, transitions, arrival and dismissal, sanitation, and classroom organization.
- Help maintain accurate attendance, meal counts, child observations and assessments, enrollment information, incident reports, and other required records.
- Communicate professionally and promptly with families, coworkers, leadership, school partners, and CISD while maintaining confidentiality.
- Participate in planning, coaching, program evaluation, required meetings, Mi Registry professional development, and continuous quality improvement.
- Support recruitment, family events, and, when scheduled, Community Unlimited out-of-school-time or other program activities; complete other reasonable duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Center-Based Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or
- Associate degree in early childhood education or child development.
- An approved written compliance plan may be considered when permitted by applicable GSRP requirements.
- Ability to meet all required licensing, background, health, certification, and training requirements.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
- Two or more years of early childhood experience.
- Experience with GSRP, High Scope, inclusive classrooms, or children with varied needs and abilities.
- Strong communication, organization, reliability, and teamwork.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
With or without reasonable accommodation, the employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; sit on the floor; bend, kneel, reach, and move quickly in response to children; work indoors and outdoors; and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
