REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
  • Must be highly qualified and certified to teach in the State of Michigan and possess the necessary educational background and the Michigan teacher certification in ELA (BX 6-12);
  • Possess the skills to prove targeted Tier 2, supplemental small-group ELA instruction to students who need more support than core instruction offers. Key responsibilities include delivering explicit lessons in reading and writing, using diagnostic and progress monitoring data to identify needs and group students, and collaborating with classroom teachers and other staff to align interventions with classroom goals.
  • Training in READ 180 a plus;
  • Must possess the ability to deliver effective classroom instruction and management;
  • Must possess a strong desire to work with students and their parents;
  • Must possess a willingness to participate in a variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities including staff and curriculum development;
  • Must possess a willingness to work as part of a building team for the improvement of instruction;
  • Must possess a willingness to adapt to continuous change;
  • Must possess excellent communication skills when engaging with students, parents, and colleagues;
  • Must possess a demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position.
PREFERRED
  • Certification in 6-12 subject areas.
