Position
The AES Operations team is looking for a Solar Technician II. This position will cover assigned O&M activities associated with the solar PV sites and substations for utility‑scale Solar Energy Plants located in Michigan. The role will be based at Calhoun County Solar, located at 13725 26 Mile Road, Albion, Michigan 49224. Candidates must be able to commute daily to the site.
Some travel to Nebraska for the Platte view project may be required.
- Responsible for assigned O&M activities on solar PV sites and substations.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations on equipment including:
Sun Grow 3150, Sun Grow 3600, Nextracker XTR, and high, medium, low voltage switching. - Perform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Perform work independently and/or with work crews.
- Experience with electrical/construction projects and basic IT equipment.
- Understanding of workplace safety and ability to follow and improve safety standards.

- Three or more years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician.
- Five or more years of experience in a power plant and one or more years in PV Solar O&M or construction.
- Knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid‑state theory application.
- Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.
- Working outside.
- Normal plant and/or office environment, including work at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high/low humidity areas.
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.).
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work overtime and non‑standard hours as required.
