Pay range: $45–$52/hour on W2
Work Schedule:
M-F - 1st shift 6am-4:30pm
Candidates will need to be flexible working weekends. 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off is the expectation. Mostly Saturdays and not Sundays
Job Description SummaryThe main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems, and processes and develop quality standards. A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards.
Responsibilities- Review and approve sampling procedures and designs, forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Review and supervise programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
- May conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
- Considered a specialist in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application.
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, or mechanical.
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
- Bachelor s degree in engineering required.
- 8-10 years’ experience required.
- Execute dimensional analysis, validation, and optimization activities for body structures and components.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to influence product design and ensure robust dimensional performance.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify and resolve dimensional issues.
- Utilize Process Engineering methodologies to develop and implement dimensional control plans and strategies.
- Conduct Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) specifically related to dimensional deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in Value Stream Mapping (VSM) activities to identify and eliminate waste in dimensional control processes.
- Ensure adherence to Client (Global Manufacturing System) standards and best practices for dimensional control.
- Develop and implement strategies for Human Machine Interface (HMI) considerations in dimensional assembly processes.
- May be involved in Lockout Tagout procedures related to dimensional equipment maintenance or setup.
- Utilize people management skills to lead cross-functional teams and drive consensus on dimensional solutions.
Skills and Abilities

- Bachelor s degree in manufacturing related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in automotive body dimensional engineering or a related field
- Excellent people management and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding and application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Demonstrated experience with Process Engineering and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
- Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) techniques.
- Knowledge of Client (Global Manufacturing System) principles and applications.
- Understanding of Human Machine Interface (HMI) considerations in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to apply lockout tagout procedures as required.
