Team: Gas Distribution Geospatial Management & Analytics
Job SummaryThe Gas Distribution Technician supports the Gas Distribution Geospatial Management & Analytics Team by maintaining accurate and up-to-date gas distribution asset data within the Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS). This role is responsible for entering gas distribution work orders, updating existing records, resolving data gaps, and producing specialized maps and analyses using ESRI ArcGIS software. The technician works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity and support operational and analytical needs.
Key Responsibilities- Input gas distribution work orders into the Enterprise GIS database.
- Maintain, update, and improve existing gas distribution asset data.
- Interpret construction drawings and as-built documentation received from the field to determine completed work and required GIS updates.
- Analyze completed construction activities and ensure accurate representation within the Gas Distribution GIS.
- Collaborate with various departments and field personnel to confirm work completion, resolve discrepancies, and close record gaps.
- Perform asset analysis and data reviews upon request.
- Produce specialty maps and spatial analyses to support operational, planning, and analytical needs.
- Ensure GIS data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards and procedures.
- Actively learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and workflows as required.
- Proficiency in GIS software, specifically ESRI ArcGIS.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and as-built documentation.
- Solid understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data management.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and highly self-motivated.
- Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills, systems, and procedures.
- Experience working with utility or gas distribution data.
- Familiarity with enterprise GIS environments and asset management systems.
- Experience producing thematic or specialty maps using spatial analysis techniques.
