Job Title: Office Manager (Geotechnical Engineering Leadership),
Location: Lansing, Michigan,

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Office Manager to lead operations at our Lansing office. This senior leadership role combines technical oversight, team leadership, and operational management, with responsibilities aligned closely to a Head of Geotechnical Engineering / Office Lead.
This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a well-established office within a respected geotechnical engineering firm known for delivering high-quality services across Michigan.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Management
- Provide overall leadership for the Lansing office, including staff management, mentoring, and development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Lead recruitment, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
- Technical Oversight
- Oversee and review geotechnical engineering projects to ensure technical excellence and compliance.
- Provide senior-level engineering guidance and act as a subject matter expert for complex projects.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company best practices.
- Operations & Business Management
- Manage day-to-day office operations, ensuring efficient project delivery and resource allocation.
- Oversee budgets, financial performance, and profitability of the office.
- Drive operational improvements and implement best practices to increase efficiency.
- Client & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and key stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support office growth.
- Represent the business in meetings, proposals, and industry engagements.
- Project Oversight
- Provide high-level oversight on a diverse portfolio of projects including infrastructure, transportation, commercial, and public sector developments.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain) strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience within geotechnical engineering.
- Proven experience in a leadership or office management role.
