Industrial Engineer IV – Field-Based Transformation Role (Michigan)

50–60% Field Travel Across Michigan (39 Service Centers)

We are partnering with our client to identify a highly skilled Industrial Engineer IV to join their Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) team. This role is ideal for an experienced industrial engineering professional who thrives in field environments, enjoys solving complex operational problems, and is passionate about driving measurable business transformation.

This position reports into a team supporting enterprise-wide efficiency and continuous improvement across Electric Supply, Gas Delivery, and Electric Distribution operations.

About the Role

This is a high-impact, field-intensive engineering role focused on improving operational performance across a broad service network. You will work directly within service centers across Michigan to identify inefficiencies, analyze workflows, and implement practical, data-driven solutions.

You will partner closely with business units and serve as a subject matter expert in industrial engineering methodologies and operational optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support transformation and operational optimization initiatives across service centers
  • Conduct field-based industrial engineering studies and workflow assessments
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret operational and performance data
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify process inefficiencies
  • Develop and present actionable improvement recommendations
  • Support implementation of approved process and operational changes
  • Contribute to workforce planning and resource optimization analysis
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
  • 5–10 years of Industrial Engineering or related experience
  • Strong background in data collection, analysis, and problem-solving
  • Hands‑on experience with Lean or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven ability to lead or support process improvement from analysis through implementation
  • Experience conducting field studies and operational assessments
  • Strong root cause analysis and actionable recommendation skills
  • Industrial Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical Engineering considered)
  • Comfortable working in a highly field‑based, travel‑heavy role
  • Experience in the Utility Industry
