Procurement Engineers at our Nuclear Power Plant play a critical role at the intersection of engineering rigor, supply chain execution, and collaboration. This role ensures the right engineered components are sourced, qualified, and delivered—while maintaining strict configuration control, nuclear quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems with people—working closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Vendors, and Operations to keep the plant safely and reliably operating.

Job Description What You’d Do

As a Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering‑based procurement activities that support nuclear plant reliability and safety, including:

  • Engineering‑Based Sourcing:
    Evaluate, specify, and procure engineered materials, components, and services in accordance with design requirements and nuclear configuration control.
  • Technical Vendor Management:
    Partner with suppliers to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance with nuclear quality requirements, and support component qualification and equivalency evaluations.
  • Quality & Compliance Oversight:
    Ensure procurement activities meet nuclear quality assurance, regulatory, and internal engineering standards.
  • Bill of Material & Configuration Control:
    Maintain accuracy and integrity of Bills of Material and approved component configurations.
  • Logistics & Order Management:
    Support delivery schedules, resolve supply constraints, and collaborate cross‑functionally to prevent impacts to plant operations.
  • Customer Partnership:
    Work directly with Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and Operations as a trusted engineering advisor, translating technical needs into executable procurement solutions.
How You’ll Be Successful Technical Expertise
  • Demonstrates strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Item Equivalency Evaluations, Commercial Grade Dedications, Review of Third-Party Dedications and Design Standards/Specifications
  • Understands system and component interdependencies and how procurement decisions affect plant safety and performance.
  • Stays current on industry standards, materials, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.
Leadership & Influence
  • Provides technical guidance to peers and stakeholders.
  • Leads and coordinates work involving multiple disciplines.
  • Promotes engineering professionalism and nuclear quality standards.
  • Supports knowledge sharing and training across the organization.
Planning & Execution
  • Develops and supports plans with measurable goals, cost awareness, and schedule alignment.
  • Applies structured planning and corrective action when objectives are at risk.
Problem Solving & Initiative
  • Resolves complex technical and supply challenges involving incomplete or conflicting data.
  • Breaks problems into logical components and proposes sound engineering solutions.
  • Proactively identifies improvement opportunities.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Clearly communicates technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Leads meetings and prepares concise technical documentation for management and regulators.
  • Builds strong working relationships across Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and external partners.
