As a Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering‑based procurement activities that support nuclear plant reliability and safety, including:
- Engineering‑Based Sourcing:
Evaluate, specify, and procure engineered materials, components, and services in accordance with design requirements and nuclear configuration control. - Technical Vendor Management:
Partner with suppliers to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance with nuclear quality requirements, and support component qualification and equivalency evaluations. - Quality & Compliance Oversight:
Ensure procurement activities meet nuclear quality assurance, regulatory, and internal engineering standards. - Bill of Material & Configuration Control:
Maintain accuracy and integrity of Bills of Material and approved component configurations. - Logistics & Order Management:
Support delivery schedules, resolve supply constraints, and collaborate cross‑functionally to prevent impacts to plant operations. - Customer Partnership:
Work directly with Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and Operations as a trusted engineering advisor, translating technical needs into executable procurement solutions.
- Demonstrates strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform Item Equivalency Evaluations, Commercial Grade Dedications, Review of Third-Party Dedications and Design Standards/Specifications
- Understands system and component interdependencies and how procurement decisions affect plant safety and performance.
- Stays current on industry standards, materials, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies.
- Provides technical guidance to peers and stakeholders.
- Leads and coordinates work involving multiple disciplines.
- Promotes engineering professionalism and nuclear quality standards.
- Supports knowledge sharing and training across the organization.
- Develops and supports plans with measurable goals, cost awareness, and schedule alignment.
- Applies structured planning and corrective action when objectives are at risk.
- Resolves complex technical and supply challenges involving incomplete or conflicting data.
- Breaks problems into logical components and proposes sound engineering solutions.
- Proactively identifies improvement opportunities.
- Clearly communicates technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Leads meetings and prepares concise technical documentation for management and regulators.
- Builds strong working relationships across Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and external partners.
- Values collaboration, consensus building, and mutual accountability.
- Understands that successful procurement engineering depends on earning trust and delivering solutions for internal customers.
- Makes sound engineering decisions under uncertainty, balancing risk, schedule, and cost.
