Job Description
Department: CAD
Report To: CAD Dept Manager
FLSA/Status: Exempt
This position is responsible for creating 3D models and conducting simulations for foundry tooling, utilizing advanced CAD software (NX) and simulation tools to ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs.
Required Skills- 3D Modeling: 10+ years’ experience in 3D modeling using NX.
- Foundry Tooling: Extensive experience in designing foundry tooling.
- High Pressure Die Cast Tooling: Proven expertise in high pressure die cast tooling.
- Plastic Injection Tooling: Experience in plastic injection tooling design.
- Simulation Expertise: Proficiency in conducting FEA, solidification, and core blowing analyses.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in NX, Solid Works, Catia, and Creo.
- Planning & Organization: Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Computer
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. - Interpersonal
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Engineering Fundamentals: Strong grasp of mechanical-engineering fundamentals such as statistics, dynamics, and components, with familiarity in electrical-engineering concepts.
- Design
Skills:
Ability to understand design requirements, think conceptually, and utilize CAD, abstract modeling, and engineering standards effectively. - Structural Engineering: Good structural-engineering skills, including load path conceptualization, free-body diagrams, integrated analysis tools, and optimization techniques.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with fasteners, fabrications, machining, welding, and other manufacturing methods.
- Team
Collaboration:
Ability to work effectively in a team, conduct design reviews, and interface with management, suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
- 3D Design Modeling & Engineering: Create and manage 3D models for foundry tooling, ensuring designs meet AG Engineering and Tolerance Standards.
- Simulation Analysis: Conduct FEA, solidification, and core blowing analyses to validate and optimize designs.
- Engineering Standards Compliance: Ensure adherence to engineering release standards and change control procedures with visual aids.
- Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with customers to understand requirements and provide updates.
- Team
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with project leaders, scheduling, and manufacturing departments to maximize manufacturing processes. - Tooling & Setup Sheets: Generate detailed tooling and setup sheets as required.
- Parts Lists: Create and maintain accurate parts lists for projects.
- Project Management Support: Assist the Project Management and Sales Management teams as needed.
