Job Description

The Mechanical Designer will work closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and project teams to develop mechanical system layouts, produce detailed drawings, and support projects through all phases of design and construction. This role focuses on designing HVAC, plumbing, and related mechanical systems using CAD and BIM tools while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

* Create and develop mechanical design solutions that respond to project requirements, applicable codes, and site constraints.

* Collaborate with mechanical engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems integrate seamlessly with structural, electrical, and architectural components.

* Produce detailed mechanical drawings, plans, and schematics using CAD and BIM software, particularly Autodesk Revit.

* Assist in preparing and coordinating design calculations, equipment selections, and construction documents for mechanical systems.

* Develop layouts and details for HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, ductwork, process piping, water treatment, and industrial exhaust and ventilation systems.

* Review architectural and consultant drawings to identify potential mechanical conflicts and propose practical solutions.

* Coordinate with contractors and project teams to address constructability issues and support project execution.

* Participate in site visits and respond to construction-phase questions, clarifications, and revision requests.

* Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high quality standards.

* Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, details, and design revisions.

* Ensure all mechanical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.

* Stay current with industry standards, equipment, and emerging mechanical design technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $33.65/hr.
